Consinema Reviews: Bridesmaids

Four out of five Popcorn Bags.

Title: Bridesmaids

Director: Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, Superbad)

The Pitch: "I Love You, Man" but with women (and some real laugh-out-loud moments).

Plot Summary: Best friends, one who's getting married, one who's life is going down the toilet.

The Verdict: Fans of Judd Apatow’s other work won’t be disappointed.

Hysterically funny feel-good movie. jBrad LOVED it - twice!

What shines? The writing, by Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo, is a completely fresh approach to the “Bridezilla” movie. The women in this movie are people, with real problems and real humanity. Kristen Wiig may not quite hit the standard of Lucille Ball where physical comedy is concerned, but could definitely give Debra Messing a run for her money. And Melissa McCarthy. Brilliant.

What sucks? Nothing, but definitely not a movie for the faint (or very pure) of heart.

Watch For: Best temper tantrum in a movie since Joan Cusack in “In and Out” or even Alan Rickman (as the Sherriff of Nottingham) in Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves! Stay for the credits at the end (why wouldn't you?)
